Empowerment is great, and I don’t mean to split hairs, but I’ve never liked the word. It implies power is being given to you by someone else. Yes, I suppose you can bestow that gift to yourself, give yourself permission to rise up, take authority, make decisions, etc. but it’s still rooted in someone else (with power) loaning you some of theirs. The problem is, those who make loans eventually want to be repaid, usually with interest. (And your best interest is not usually what they are looking after.) That’s where it gets messy.
Skip all that.
Don’t wait to be empowered. You have agency. Own it.
